Planting & Care
When should I plant?
Spring-flowering bulbs: plant in autumn; most require several cool weeks in soil to initiate flowering.Summer-flowering bulbs & tubers: plant in spring after frost risk; some tender/tropical types benefit from a protected or warm indoor start.
Can I store bulbs until next year?
No. Bulbs should be planted in the same season they are supplied.
Bare-root plants—plant direct or pot up first?
This depends on root type. Some establish well planted directly; delicate, fibrous-rooted types often benefit from being potted up to form a firm root ball before moving to borders.
Do bulbs need soaking?
Generally no. A short pre-plant soak can help specific dehydrated types (e.g., anemone, ranunculus), but most bulbs should be planted dry into prepared soil.
What are the basic depth and spacing rules?
As a rule of thumb: planting depth = 2–3× bulb height; spacing ≈ 2× bulb width. Ensure free-draining soil or containers with drainage holes.
Can bulbs stay in the ground after flowering?
Many spring bulbs can naturalise. Most tender summer bulbs are not frost-hardy and should be lifted and stored frost-free.
Sustainability & Safety
What kind of packaging do you use?
We prioritise efficient, low-plastic, recycled or recyclable materials where possible.
Are bulbs safe around pets and children?
Some species are toxic if ingested. Store and plant out of reach and seek professional advice in case of ingestion.
Will wildlife eat my bulbs?
Some bulbs are more attractive to wildlife than others. Protective measures (e.g., bulb baskets) can help.
